Montpeiler Restoration

Restoration Madison Home Fireplace

James and Dolly Madison’s home, Montpelier, was owned by others after their deaths and ultimately turned into a rambling mansion by the Dupont family. The last owner left it to a foundation the Duponts also established to restore it to the house James Madison lived in.  It involves tearing the mansion away from the original house and restoring the interior.  There is no monument to Madison even though he was the man responsible for our constitution. There is hope by his current admirers that this restoration will be a monument to him.
